New Vietnam Visa renewal procedure for citizens of South Korea and Japan

According to the new Immigration, Residency and Transit Law of Vietnam number 47/2014/QH13 take effect from 01/01/2015: Foreigner immigrated in Vietnam under visa exemption in general and specially South Korean and Japanese are able to apply for Visa as follow:

1. For Japanese and South Korean entered Vietnam under Visa Exemption for 15 days. According to the new law, you are eligible to apply for Visa without Approval Letter. The requirements are: Passport, return flight booking and are not belong to these category: Forbidden to enter Vietnam and have not received the permission to enter Vietnam. Foreigner has passed all the requirements above can have a residency stamp in their passport provided by the Immigration Department.

**Note: According to the new law, foreigners who enter Vietnam under Visa exemption cannot change their type of Visa. When the Visa exemption’s duration is over, you have to exit Vietnam and if you want to enter Vietnam under Visa exemption again, you have to wait 30 days before you next entry in Vietnam.

1. Citizens of South Korea and Japan apply for VISA on Arrival at Vietnam’s international Airport:

• International Airport in Vietnam: Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Phu Quoc.
• In case Japanese and South Korean don’t want to enter Vietnam under Visa exemption for 15 days and want to enter Vietnam under a longer duration ( 1 month or 3 months ) Visa can apply for Visa at Vietnam’s borders and international airports.
• To process visa documents for Visa on Arrival, organization, company or enterprises in Vietnam must apply for visa at the immigration department before immigrated.
• At the borders, present the passport and approval letter, fill in the application form to get Visa on Arrival, lastly pay the stamping fee and get the Visa.

 

2. Citizens of South Korea and Japan apply for Visa at Vietnam’s Embassy in other country.

• In case Japanese and South Korean don’t want to enter Vietnam under Visa exemption for 15 days and want to enter Vietnam under a longer duration ( 1 month or 3 months ) Visa can apply for Visa at Vietnam’s Embassy in their respective countries.
• To process visa for Visa, organization, company or enterprises in Vietnam must apply for visa at the immigration department. Approval letter will be faxed to the embassy or representative office of Vietnam in that country.
• At Vietnam embassy or representative office,  present the passport and the approval letter, fill in the application form and pay fee accordingly then the visa will be stamped to the passport.

**Note: According to the new law of 2015, the purpose of Visa can’t be changed so you are advised to remember this to easier processing Visa in Vietnam or extension.
